Everton play host to Burnley at their Goodison Park in what is expected to be an interesting relegation six-pointer. The Toffees are eyeing their first league win since December 16, 2023 when they defeated their Saturday’s rivals at Turf Moor and we are positive that Sean Dyche’s men are going to leave their hearts on the field. Anyhow, their fine performance in a 1-1 draw with Newcastle United is fuelling fans with optimism ahead of the visit of Burnley.
Meanwhile, the Clarets are undefeated in the previous four league matches, but despite the fine form, their Premier League status is still in great danger. Burnley are not regarded as good travellers, with the team already suffering nine defeats on the road and, taking everything into account, we believe that the time has come for Everton to return to winning ways in the national championship. All Ameen Al Dakhil, Aaron Ramsey, Louis Jordan Beyer, and Luca Koleosho are out of contention for the away team.
How the bookies view it
Everton are odds-on favourites here at 4/6 with Coral. Burnley are available at 17/4. The draw is 16/5 with JILICC.
Recent head to heads
Everton eased to a 2-0 win at Turf Moor in December. And Everton also cruised to a 3-0 League Cup om Merseyside this season too.
Prior to that, Burnley won two of the last three meetings between the sides.
Players to watch
Dominic Calvert-Lewin has had a season to forget, but at least he finally got back on the scoresheet with that late penalty at Newcastle. Incredibly, that was his first goal since October. He is 8/5 to score anytime with JILICC.
Jacob Bruun Larsen netted for Burnley in midweek and has now scored two goals in his last three games. The Danish on loan midfielder from Hoffenheim is 5/1 to net, also with JILICC.
Everton vs Burnley Prediction
Burnley have grown in both form and confidence in recent weeks. They are unbeaten in four straight league games. Clarets have held the likes of West Ham and Chelsea to draws in the last two away outings. They also looked great on Tuesday night in a 1-1 stalemate to Wolves, well deserving all three points on the occasion. On the other side, Everton are winless in 13 consecutive Premier League games. They took just one point from the previous four league fixtures and it only came after a late penalty-kick in Tuesday’s game at Newcastle. We see big value in backing Burnley to win or draw at the 2.25 odds.
It is very hard to see either of these teams keeping a clean sheet in any given game these days. Everton have conceded in eight successive Premier League outings. Burnley have not kept a clean sheet in 14 straight matches in all competitions. Both teams also scored in four of the last six H2wH affairs. We will opt for the Both Teams To Score pick at the 1.80 odds.
